Graduation Requirements

The California Education code specifies a minimum set of courses required for high school graduation in addition to our school required courses for graduation.

 

Students will complete 230 credits and the following courses while in grades 9-12.

Courses of English (3 years)

30 credits

Courses (2 years) in mathematics, including one year of algebra 1 beginning with the 2003-04 school year

20 credits

Courses in Science (2 years), including biological and physical sciences

20 credits

Courses (3 years) in social  studies, including United

 States history and geography; world history, culture, and

 geography; a one semester course in American

 government and civic; and a one semester course in

economics Students must read and be taught the following set of American government documents: The Declaration of Independence, The United States Constitution, including Bill of Rights, Substantive selections from the Federalist Papers, The Emancipation Proclamation, The Gettysburg Address, George Washington’s Farewell Address

Course (1 Year) in visual or performing arts or a foreign language which can include a course (1 year) in American Sign Language

10 credits

Courses (2 Years) in Physical Education, unless student is exempted

1 Semester Health                                                                                                      5 credits
1 Semester Life Skills for the 21st Century                                                                 5 credits

Course Electives                                                                                                        30 credits

Student must demonstrate Computer Competency

Students must take an exit exam equivalent to the CAHSEE
